The company was founded by Dr Chris van der Merwe, formerly CEO of Nola Foods. Currently, the company produce a number of pasta products (lasagna sheets, noodles and rice) produced from vegetables, alternative meat (branded as “mindffull mince”) from mushrooms, as well as wraps and pizza bases – all produced from vegetables – i.e. non-wheat and maize ingredients.
The factory is based in Babsfontein where it is surrounded by vegetable growers which allows easy access to raw materials. Products are supplied to Pick & Pay, Spar, Dischem, Shoprite, Freshmark and Checkers and demand is growing monthly.
The company only turned profitable in 2021 with steep revenue growth since inception.
I7 acquired a 20% shareholding in QUIKKIR and 10% in the QUIKKIR Holdings during September 2021. An equitable valuation structure had been entered into with current shareholders whereby i7’s shareholding may be increased or reduced depending on the extent to which the company meets its targets by 28 February 2024. I7 has secured representation on the QUIKKIR board.
